Mathematical analysis of hydraulic cylinders with cushioning

In many applications deceleration of a piston as it nears the end of its stroke is very important parameter for proper hydraulic cylinder selection. Cylinders with cushioning device are frequently used in order to reduce mechanical impact at the end of piston stroke. In this paper, few constructive solutions for hydraulic cylinder cushioning are presented. Equations for cylinder with straight spear were particularly examined and for this case appropriate mathematical model was derived and critically compared with literature available one.
