Wilt of sunflower

Several fungi are capable of causing wilt in sunflower. Most frequently those are agents of Verticillium wilt, Verticillium albo atrum and Verticillium dahliae. Fusarium wilt can be caused by several fungi from the genus Fusarium. Verticillium wilt is a major sunflower disease in countries with a warm climate. Although it has been described in Serbia, it has no economic importance. Fusarium wilt has been described in many countries around the world, including our country. As there are no data on its harmfulness, it may be inferred that it is not economically important. The applied control measures include agrotechnical measures such as crop rotation, use of healthy seed, growing of resistnt hybrids, etc.
