Major sunflower pests of the order Lepidoptera

In Serbia and the surrounding countries taken together, sunflower crops are damaged by over 30 Lepidoptera species, with those from the family Noctuidae being the most common. The present paper discusses the most important among these, namely Homoeosoma nebulellum, Loxostege sticticalis, Vanessa cardui, Euxoa temera, Agrotis segetum, Mamestra brassicae, Autographa gamma, Helicoverpa armigera. It includes data on the biology, ecology, and harmfulness of particular species as well as information on forecasts of their occurrence and integrated measures for their control.
