Determination of the strains belonging to the species Lactococcus lactis ssp. lactis isolated from Njeguski and Pljevaljski cheese

Purpose of this study was precise genetic determination of the isolated strains that belonging to the Lactococcus lactis ssp. lactis, their comparison to the other existing strains and further investigation of their metabolic activities. Used pulse time gave a good separation of Smal digestion fragments of DNA. The number of fragments varied from 15 to 20. Values of genome sizes were between 2.0 to 2.7 Mbp. For 10 examined strains PFGE method has reviled 9 different genotypes. Plasmid profile analysis has showed that all strains posess plasmids. All of the examined strains were resistant to bacteriophage collection.
