The effect of site and stand conditions on natural regeneration of beech forests was researched in the area of Severni Kucaj, Serbia. The assessed elements were: the canopy, abundance, quality and the method of regeneration growth, and also the presence of seedlings. The research shows that the regeration process throughout the area of the study stands did not start, or it started in smaller groups. The decision to use the present regeneration and start the planned natural regeneration, or to continue the production of wood volume, depends on the site conditions and stand state. Because of the heterogeneous structure, in addition to the classical regeneration method, the combined methods of regeneration are proposed: group selection - regeneration cuttings, as well as the free silvicultural techniques.
