When should a forest be cut? Mathematical model of optimal time for forest cutting

A forest is an investment. The trees that grow there are failled for their wood, and the wood has a market value. But if the trees are harvested the soon, then the price they fetch may not even cover the costs of felling them. On the other hand, if the forester waits too long before harvesting, then old trees may not be growing fast enough to justify their occupation of the soil. Somewhere in between these extrems lies an optimal harvesting time. What is it? In this paper, we will attempt to answer that question by using a mathematical model.
