Fat is a very important component in nutrition, however, it must be consumed to a certain limit. Wrong nutrition and physical inactivity are connected with a risk of the rise of cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, professionals recommend: 1. to decrease a portion of fat in the energy intake from 40 to 30%; 2. to decrease the intake of saturated fats under 10% of the energy intake; 3. the intake of trans- unsaturated fatty acids should not be higner than 2%; 4. to increase the intake of polyunsaturated fatty acids to the level of 10%; 5. to increase the intake of long-chain fatty acids to double of the present intake; 6. to keep up a daily intake od cholesterol under the level of 245 mg/day. These recommendations, besides prevention of cardiovacular diseases, are also important as prevention of obesity and diabetes that are the risk factors of the rise of tumours and cardiovascular diseases. At consideration on the potential effect of animal fats on the rise of diseases we have to take into consideration besides fat also a complex of etiological factors participating in the rise of a disease.
