Present trends in poultry nutrition

The influence of the removal of meat and bone meal requires the use of alternative and cheap ingredients for poultry feeds. The progress in traditional plant breeding as well as in molecular biology enables the development of new feed ingredients with higher nutritional value for poultry. The removal of antibiotic growth promoters leads to the need for alternatives. Among the additives, enzymes enhancing the nutrient availability of feedstuffs, organic acids promoting digestive health, probiotics, prebiotics, herbs and etheric oils are products to be considered in feed formulation. There might be additional effect by specific combinations of different additives.
