The influence of planting distance on generative potential of strawberry cultivars
2006
Milivojevic, J.,Poljoprivredni fakultet, Beograd - Zemun (Serbia)
Over 2001-2002, studies were conducted at the Experimental Estate Radmilovac, collective strawberry planting of the Faculty of Agriculture, Belgrade - Zemun (Serbia). The experiment included three strawberry cultivars, two newly introduced cvs, Marmolada and Elsanta, and standard cultivar Senga Sengana. All cultivars were grown on banks covered with black polyethylene foil, in the form of two row bands. Various intrarow distances were applied 15, 20, 30, and 40 cm, whereas interrow distances were fixed at 30 cm. Flowering time as well as major parameters of generative potential (morphological inforescence properties and cropping of strawberry cultivars) were studied at different planting distance. The best results for the most studied parameters were obtained in cv Senga Sengana, but this cultivar had the smallest fruits among studied cultivars. Newly introduced strawberry cultivars Marmolada and Elsanta had larger fruits with lower yield per plant. At the same time, the larger planting distances of 30 x 30 cm and 40 x 30 cm, where the highest values were recorded, positively influenced values of the stated parameters of generative potential, whereas the lowest values were recorded at smaller planting distances, 15 x 30 cm and 20 x 30 cm.
