Effects of chloride on fruit acidity, fruit qualities, and yield of pineapple: [Final research report: Kasetsart University research fund fiscal year 2000]

Effects of chloride on growth, fruit acids content, fruit quality and and yield of pineapple were investigated. The properties of the soil in the experimental plot were as follws: OM=0.83 percent, available P and K=35 and 58 ppm, Ca=14.4 ppm, Mg=13.0 ppm, Cu=0.2 ppm, Zn=0.25 ppm, Mn=20.5 ppm and Fe=40.9 ppm. The variation for these soil nutrients in the experimental plot are somewhat high. Leaf analysis at 2 months after planting also shows high variation of K, Zn and Mn, which party due to the variation of soil nurients in the experimental plots. Average growth rate of the plants in first 6 months after planting was 98.3 g/plant/month and increased to 353.3 g/plant/month during the 6-9 months. Treatments of different chloride level on every aspect of growth at 9 months after planting were not significantly differences. At 9 months, average plant fresh weight was 2.0 kg/plant. Ratio of stump weight to plant weight was 12.13 percent, number of green leaves per plant=49, D-leaf width and D-leaf length are 4.5, and 80.7 cm respectively. Flower forcing is estimated to be done at 12-13 months after planting.
