Insect pest of soybean cultivar KKU 35 and its natural enemies at Khon Kaen province during 1997-2000

Surveys on insect pests and its natural enemies of soybean cultivar KKU 35 were carried out at Amphur Sri-Chompu during the rainy season and at Amphr Ubonratana and Nam Pong during the dry season between 1997 to 2000, by visual counting. The results showed that in the rainy season, there were 33 species of insect pests which the most common ones were aphids, cotton bollworms, cut worms, jassids and rice stink bugs. Sixteen natural enemies were found and the most common species were several kinds of ladybird beetles, predaceous stink bugs, assassin bugs and spiders. In the dry season, twenty-four species of insect pests were present and the most common species were aphid, leaf rollers, cutworms, black bugs, and red spiders. Sixteen species of natural enemies were also found and the common species were several kinds of ladybird beetles, including spiders and small birds.
