[Analysing the competitive environment of the Kyiv oblast's grain market]

Analysed is the current state of economic competition in the Kyiv oblast's regional grain market and the assessement of the impact of other objects of this market on the competition state of the grain field is given. A method for assessing the level of concentrating and monopolizing the grain market is substantiated. Said grain market is found out to develop in the conditions of imperfect competition. The situation in the market is determined by integrated grain producer associations which are the most effective form of economic management. The primary and secondary grain buyers the market of which is highly concentrated and monopolized impart the market features of monopsony and olygopsony. Hence, the present-day market is characterized by the following features: the presence of dominating production companies and buying companies covering the most part of the ranges of the market; the presence of large amount of outsider companies, small by their size, producing the same or a similar commodity but not capable of affecting the market price; the market price is established under the significant effect of the dominating grain-bying companies (although it is corrected by the state on the account of introducing mortgage operations and price supports. On the opinion of the author, in order to overcome the negative effect of the imperfect competition of other market objects, it is necessary to carry out the further horizontal integration of grain producers through establishing farm, production and servicing cooperatives the effect of which in developed countries deserves attention. It will allow to achieve savings in expenses and to enhance their position in the grain market. Results of the study suppose that in present-day conditions scientists and practicians should tackle a task of determining forecast and development of alternative scenarios of the grain subsector of Ukraine taking into account dynamic factors of the competitive environment. It will allow lowering some uncertainty while making effective managerial decisions, stabilizing the domestic grain market and increasing the import potential of the state.
