Factors determining the size of farms in dairy sector

The study is dedicated to disclose the main factors that along with determining the average size of the farms in the dairy sector, inhibiting the initiation of structural adjustments in production farms. As a tool in the analysis is used statistical data from different secondary sources, applying the analytic-deductive approach of summarization of results from the research. The ranking of the factors supposing their importance and impact on the size of dairy farms is fulfilled through weighting out their effect and consequences considered as critical for dairy production. The factors that are thought as essential reason for present state of the production in dairy sector and that are included in the analysis are: technological, price, capital and demographical. With the impact of those factors and with their adverse structure through the past years is explicated mainly the present fragmentation of the production, the deprived return, detriment commoditization and market orientation, slackened competitiveness, etc. All these factors are crucial and tangibly deprive the development of dairy production in Bulgaria and in their solution are placed the possibilities for improvement of the situation in this sector because without enlargement, concentration and stabilization, the dairy production might not withstand the outside competition and will plunge into the problems around.
