Factors of ecologically safe agricultural production are examined. The criterion for ecological and economic efficiency of land use as the most comprehensive index that allows to evaluate the consequences of economic and environment protection activities is suggested. Sustainable development of agriculture and its branches does not exclude the variability of chemical preparations application and supposes application of chemical means on the base of scientifically grounded regulations of ecological technologies allowing to make them minimum dangerous for environment and for a man first of all. Sustainable development of agriculture depends on developing and introduction of such agricultural systems that would permit to get high economic results at soil fertility conservation, ecological tension decrease. Negative influence of modern agricultural system on environment and results of economic activity is expressed with the help of natural (physical) and relative indices. Complex of these and cost indices is the base for estimation of ecological and economic state of agriculture. Ecological and economic efficiency has become the most full and complex index. Essence of this index is concluded in economic efficiency from agricultural production with account of ecological influence of agriculture on environment. Full ecological and economic efficiency is accounted for definite period of time simultaneously on the basis of comparison of economic results and actual cost on production, actual damage to environment done by agriculture
