[Comparative evaluation of potato varieties of different ripening rate]

Research results of investigation of yield productivity and adaptability of 35 new released and promising potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) varieties of Belarusian and foreign selection on light (sod-podzolic and loamy) soils of Minsk region of the Republic of Belarus were presented. As a result of three year fundamental analysis of potato varieties it was stated that yielding capacity of early ripening varieties Proventa (92,5 c/ha), Del’fin (63,3 c/ha), Uladar (78,2 c/ha), Molli (74,7 c/ha) and mid-ripening Zhuravinka (63,0 c/ha) was higher than in the standard ones. Kapriz, Nikita, Proventa, Molli, Felitsias, Rikeya, Uladar, Udacha, Odissej, Snegir’, Yavar and Arkhideya varieties proved to be effective for early ripening potato production because their maturity rate on the 40-50 day after sprouting was 160-225 c/ha. Snegir’, Nikita, Proventa, Udacha, Charodej, Zhuravinka, Blakit, Zdabytak proved to be highly resistant to late blight, Del’fin, Snegir’, Proventa, Elizaveta, Skarb, Dar, Peterburgskij, Lasunak, Blakit, Atlant, Al’pinist, Zhuravinka, Kupalinka – to potato scab (Actinomyces scabies ). Hollow heart was noted in the following varieties: Yavar (5,10%), Odissej (5-7%), Elizaveta (4-11%), Snegir’ (2,0%), Atlant (1,5-2,0%). High starch content was stated in Snegir’ (13,8%), Felitsitas (13,1%), Arkhideya (15,2%), Lileya (14,1%), Dar (15,5%), Talisman (15,2%), Zhuravinka (17,0%), Zdabytak (18,9%) and Kupalinka (16,8%) varieties
