The article deals with the current issues of scientific provision of the fish branch in Belarus. The author analyzes the work of the Institute in the sphere of creation of new technological processes of fish breeding and fish fodder production, describes the study of the quality of the environment, the prophylactics of diseases, the ecological evaluation of biological resources and the regimes of their exploitation, the introduction of new species of fish. It is also stated that the increase of economic effectiveness of pond fish breeding of the republic is the main priority
