Success of YY supermale production on nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus)

Research has been conducted at the Research Insitute on Freshwater Fisheries, Sukamandi and The Freshwater Fisheries Research Instalation at Cibalagung. This research was aimed at determining the male tilapia that have homogamete (YY) genotype among the 500 male broodstocks. Each male broodstock was mated with one normal female broodstock. Sex ratio and survival rate of the off springs were the main parameters observed. Results of the research showed that there were 15 males among the 500 male broodstocks which positively-based on their progenies sex ratios - had homogamete (YY) genotype : they produced all male progenies
