Study on the efficiency of different herbicides for controlling weed growths in sunflower cultivations was carried out. In order to do this, experiments were conducted with Randomized Complete Block Designe (RCBD) with 9 treatments (Pendimetaline, Allacolor, Immaza-meta-banzo-mtyle, Oxiflouryn, Oxadiaxone(in 2 dozes), check(without weed control), hand weeding and Cultivator application between rows) with 4 replications in two locations (Maragheh and Sararood) in 2 years(2002 and 2003). Results showed that all of herbicides destroyed and stopped growths of sunflower in Maragheh (first year). The adverse effects of herbicides on sunflower were similar to other herbicides on growth stopping. However, hand weeding had highest grain yield of sunflower (1348 kg/ha) and stopped growth of weeds. The second highest grain yield obtained by cultivator application, which reduced number of weeds (5.616 m2) increased grain yield (837 kg/ha of sunflower) Seco nd year results were similar to first year where all of herbicides destroyed and stopped growths of sunflower in Maragheh. The adverse effects of herbicides were similar to each herbicide on stopped growing of sunflower. However, hand weeding had highest grain yield of sunflower (1062.5 kg/ha) and stopped growth of weeds. The second highest grain yield obtained by cultivator application, which reduced number of weeds (15.63/m2) in early development stage. In second growth stage before harvesting stage, numbers of weeds were 17.5/m2 compared to other treatments (herbicides) increased grain yield (928.4 kg/ha) of sunflower. In sararood, in first year, no experiment was conducted. however, in second year experimentation, all herbicides treatments destroyed and stopped growth sunflowers, but hand weeding decreased numbers of weeds and increased grain yield of sunflower. It can be concluded that herbicides applications are not usefull for sunflower weed controlling.
