Evaluation Of Quantitative And Qualitative Characteristics Of Early And Late New Potato Varieties In Spring Cultivation

In order to introducing of new potato varieties , two experiments were carried out with 37 late to medium-late and 36 early to medium-early varieties. Experimental design was Randomized Compete Blcock Design (RCBD) with 4 replications. Locations of experiments were : Karaj, Khorasan, Tabriz, Golestan, Kerman, Semnan (Shahrood) , Isfahan and treatments were evaluated for 2 successive years. Each plot was consisted of 2 rows with 6 meters length and planting density was 25x75 centimeters. Some of evaluated traits were : tuber shape , tuber size, Tuber flesh colour , secondary growth, cooking quality , total and marketable yield. Datas analysis showed that among the late and medium-late varieties (kuras,Bright,Agria, Sonate, Fontane, Delikat, Belini, Eos , Fiana, Moren, Apart, Aziza, white desiree , Nicola, Markis, Raja, Likaria, silvester, Santana, Mondial, Srenade, Picasso, Diamant, Elles, Bolesta, Tresor, Maradona, Samanta, Hertha, Aula, Ramus, Fabula, Juliane, Futura, Arnaka, Marella, Atlas) marketable yield of Kuras , Fiana, Picasso, Diamant, Maradona, Bellini and Eos in compression with check (Agria) more than 4 , 13, 24 , 8, 20 , 22 , and 12 percent respectively. Also among the early and medium-early varieties (Karlena, Agava , Almera , Arinda , Marfona, Sante, Inova, Armada, Arnova , Impala , Milva , Beluga, Agata, Arkula , Ilona , Provento , Ajiba, Concord , Odesa, Pamella , Aida, Carmona, Colombus, Premier, Flavia , Timate , Ultra , Dita , Cosmos , Ajax , Kondor , Fresco , Romano , Binella , Estima , Novita )yieled of Almera , Arinda , Arnova , Milva , Odesa , Marella and Pamella , were 12, 13 , 6 , 10 , 25 , 9 , and 5 percent more than check variety (Marfona) respectively . Odesa and Belini varieties are susceptible to internal rust and tuber flesh colour of Fiana is white . So based on yield and other characteristics of investigated varieties the final recomindations are as follows: 1- Almera , Arnova and Milva are suitable for fresh consumptions . 2- Sante variety for fresh consumption , processing and Off season production . 3- Maradona , Eos , Odesa and Belini for fresh consumption . 4- Kuras for starch production .
