Title: Evaluation of winter and facultative wheat (T. aestivum) lines and varieties in preliminary grain yield trial in cold regions (PRWYT- C)

In this study 193 genotypes of wheat that have been selected from preliminary wheat screening and international trials of the cold regions of the country during the last cropping seasons, were evaluated in 7 different cold locations of Iran as yield trials. These genotypes were studied in preliminary yield trials, without replication, in comparison with the check cultivars (Alvand, Zarrin, Shahryar and C-75-5). Each line or cultivar was planted in a 7.2 m2 plot (6×1.2 m2) and the final harvesting area was 6 m2 (5×1.2). The grain yield comparison among new lines/cultivars and determination of potential yield stability was done using Ranking Method. After calculating of rank mean and standard division, 54 lines were selected for advanced yield trials. The selected new lines had more yield in comparison to the check cultivars and differed in their height, resistace to diseases (particulary yellow rust), days to heading and days to maturity wich were more suitable than the checks. The average yield of the checks, shahryar, C-75-5-, Zarin, Alvand were 6510, 5636, 6738 and 6271kg/ha, respectively. Key words: Wheat, yield, stability, variety comparison.
