Investigation of factors effecting development of Gully erosion in Sorkh-Abad watershed.

Damages due to gully erosion are more harmful than other erosion forms. Therefore it is essential that we know about factors affected on gullyandrsquos occurrence and extension. For study about this subject selected Sorkh-Abad watershed basin in Savadkooh region with accelerated spread and severity of gully erosion. In this research collected previous data and information and reviewed and compared with present situation and then selected 14 gullies for determination of gullies dimension changes and characteristics of them. In two period of determination relationship between gullyandrsquos volume changes (dependent factor) and precipitation, gullyandrsquos watershed area, overall slope, gullyandrsquos slope, plant cover, soluble salts and soil texture (independent factors ) was studied in regression analysis with Enter-Backward method. The best linear regression model resulted with high coefficient (R 2 = 0.83) that X1 is precipitation over 10mm in 24h (mm), X2 is gullyandrsquos watershed area (ha), X3 is soilandrsquos soluble salts (%), X4 is clay content in soilandrsquos particles (%) and LogY is gully's volume change(ha).
