Study on selection for heat and drought tolerance in bread wheat genotypes.

This research was conducted to find heat and drought tolerance of bread wheat genotypes. Twenty genotypes evaluated in randomized complete block design with 4 replications in two years(1383-85) in Gachsaran agricultural research station in dryland and supplemental conditions separately. Through growth cycle different morphophysiological traits, relative water content and grain yield were evaluated and recorded. Simple analysis of variance was done on grain yield and relative water content for each year. The genotypes compared based on Duncan multiple range tests. In consideration of grain yield in dryland and upplemental irrigation conditions and different susceptible/ tolerance indices, principal component analysis, on these traits and optimum level of agronomic traits, more adaptive genotypes (lines no. 3, 8 and 9) selected for different environmental conditions.
