[Small stained fruits of wild flora of Sardinia: polyphenolic composition and antioxidant activity]

Английский. The small stained fruits, both wild and cultivated, contain many phenolic compounds with protective activitiy toward human health. In this research, a preliminary evaluation of polyphenol, flavonoid, flavanol and anthocyanin total content in methanolic extracts of small wild fruits present in Sardinian flora, as strawberry-tree (Arbutus unedo L.), red myrtle (Myrtus communis L.) and white myrtle (Myrtus communis L. var. leucocarpa), and cultivated small red fruits, as redcurrant (Ribes brunum L.), blackberry (Rubus fruticosus L.), blueberry (Vaccinium myrtillus L.) and raspberry (Rubus idaeus L.), was carried out. The antioxidant activity of the extracts was determined by means of in vitro tests (DPPH, FRAP, ABTS) and compared with the one of some natural and synthetic antioxidants. All results were expressed as Trolox equivalents, in order to conform different answers. Red myrtle (423.3 mg), blueberry (389.1 mg) and blackberry (282.1 mg) contain the largest amount of polyphenols. The results of methanolic extracts antioxidant activity, examined such as they are, emphasize that fruits with higher polyphenol content have a more effective antioxidant activity in the three used tests. Among all fruits, red myrtle has the most marked activity. The correlation data between total polyphenol content and antioxidant activity show good correlation values for the three methods, particularly for FRAP test (r = 0.965) and ABTS test (r = 0.966). At the same polyphenol concentration, white myrtle extract showed, among all fruits and in all tests, a high antioxidant activity, better than the one of red myrtle and strawberry-tree. In the three tests, the activity of examined fruits was always higher than the one of synthetic antioxidants as BHA and BHT, comparable and sometimes lower than the one of natural antioxidants as gallic acid, catechin and ascorbic acid

Tra i frutti colorati, la cosiddetta piccola frutta rossa, sia selvatica, sia coltivata, contiene numerosi composti fenolici con attività protettive sulla salute umana. E' stata eseguita una preliminare valutazione del contenuto totale di polifenoli, flavonoidi, flavanoli e antociani in estratti metanolici di piccoli frutti selvatici di corbezzolo (Arbutus unedo L.), mirto rosso (Myrtus communis L.) e mirto bianco (Myrtus communis L. var. leucocarpa) della flora sarda e di alcuni piccoli frutti coltivati, come ribes rosso (Ribes brunum L.), mora (Rubus fruticosus L.), mirtillo (Vaccinium myrtillus L.) e lampone (Rubus idaeus L.). L'attività antiossidante degli estratti è stata determinata con test in vitro (DPPH, FRAP e ABTS) e confrontata con quella di alcuni antiossidanti naturali e sintetici. Per uniformare le diverse risposte, i risultati sono stati espressi come equivalenti di Trolox. I frutti contenenti la maggiore quantità di polifenoli sono il mirto rosso (423,3 mg), i mirtilli (389,1 mg) e le more (282,1 mg). I risultati dell'attività antiossidante degli estratti metanolici tal quali evidenziano che i frutti con un più elevato contenuto di polifenoli hanno un più efficace effetto antiossidante nei tre test utilizzati. Tra tutti i frutti, il mirto rosso possiede l'attività più spiccata. I dati di correlazione tra contenuto di polifenoli totali e attività antiossidante indicano buoni valori di correlazione per i tre metodi e, in particolare, per il FRAP (r = 0,965) e l'ABTS (r = 0,966). A parità di concentrazione di polifenoli, l'estratto di mirto bianco esplica, fra tutti i frutti e in tutti i test, un'elevata attività antiossidante, superiore in modo particolare a quella del mirto rosso e del corbezzolo. L'attività dei frutti esaminati nei tre test è costantemente più elevata di quella degli antiossidanti sintetici BHA e BHT, paragonabile e talvolta inferiore a quella degli antiossidanti naturali acido gallico, catechina e acido ascorbico
