To evaluate the physiomorphological chararacteristics related to drought tolerance in advanced bread wheat genotypes this experiment was condacted in Dryland agricultural research Sab-Institute (DARSI) Kermansheh. In this study, 20 genotypes of bread wheat were grown in the experimental field, green house and laboratory of Dryland Agricultural Research Institute, Sararood,. Analysis of variance revealed enough genetic variation and the possibility of selection for improving drought tolerance in stress and non- stress conditions. Evaluated traits were: proline content of flag leaf, cell membrance stability in seedling and end of stem elongation stages, relative water content, leaf water exited, chlorophyll a, b, coleoptile length and phonological and morphological traits. From evaluated traits proline content of flag leaf, cell membrance stability in seedling stage and leaf water exited had a strongest correlation with stress tolerance index (STI). Germination test in laboratory indicated significant variations. Root and coleoptile length were reduced as water potential decreased. GSI and STI criteria introduce the same superior genotypes. Also in order to determine the stability and adaptability of grain yield of genotypes in reinfed conditions, using 2 years data, combined analysis of variance was done. Result of combined analysis of variance showed that interaction of genotype × environment was highly significant.
