Reduction of the environmental pollution and spraying equipment

Over the last years, the main solution adopted by manufacturers and designers of sprayers to reduce the dispersal of liquid in pesticide treatments is to improve the capacity of the equipment to reach the target. This is commonly accomplished through the regulation of the direction of spray and bringing the nozzles as close as possible to foliage. The localization is usually realized with tower sprayers equipped with conveyors. These systems produce better uniformity of deposition and little reduction of losses. About ten years ago, the research started to study the possibility of surrounding the plant with a closed room in which perform the spraying. Several prototypes of tunnel sprayers were built in last years and one of them gave very interesting results due to the particular system of circulation of spray inside the tunnel. The fluid-dynamic studies of the equipment made it possible to reduce the losses to the ground in vineyard to 3% of sprayed liquid. Aerial losses and drift are reduced too, allowing the operation in windy conditions. Owing to the high precision and predictability of deposits, the use of a tunnel system can simplify the assessment of the correct dose of chemicals

Ultimamente questo problema è diventato di importanza vitale e si prevede che lo sarà ancora di più in futuro. E' necessario perciò che le macchine e le loro regolazioni tengano conto anche di questo aspetto. Le strade seguite dai costruttori di irroratrici a barra sono rivolte alla riduzione della deriva con l'impiego di ugelli innovativi, di barre ad aeroconvezione, mentre per le irroratrici per colture arboree ci si concentra sulla direzione dei flussi d'aria e sulla localizzazione. Questi sistemi hanno migliorato i rendimenti della distribuzione, ma non hanno risolto il problema, mentre di recente è stato brevettato un sistema a tunnel per frutteto e vigneto in grado di ridurre le perdite a terra a valori bassissimi: si può ipotizzare che questo possa essere il sistema su cui concentrare la ricerca per dare una svolta al problema della dispersione di agrofarmaci e insieme migliorare l'efficienza dell'irrorazione
