Mechanical harvesting of grape: a study on the correlation between working quality, operating conditions and vibrations transmission to the plant

The performances of a made in Italy machine, equipped with vertical shaking system, and the vibrations transmitted to the plant were analysed to determine the influence of different operating conditions on amount and quality of harvested product and dynamic response of the grapevine. The tests were carried out on a double curtain vineyard by changing the forward speed and the frequency of the shaker. Transducers were mounted on the plant to measure accelerations during harvesting. The results show that an increase of the forward speed (from 0.69 to 0.83 m/s) does not involve a worsening of the harvesting. A lower shaking frequency increases significantly the amount of non-broken bunches without decreasing the quantity of harvested product. A lower number of strokes per meter of curtain driven by the shaker decreases significantly the loss of leaves. Peak of acceleration appears not correlated with the harvested product. The increase of velocity change at shoot, related to the energy transmitted to the grapes, is positively correlated with the harvested product, but the increase is irrelevant in the examined working condition, while it involves a substantial loss of leaves

[Sono state analizzate le prestazioni di una vendemmiatrice di produzione italiana, a scuotimento verticale, e le vibrazioni trasmesse alla pianta, per determinare l'influenza delle condizioni operative sulla quantità e la qualità del prodotto raccolto e sulla risposta dinamica della vite. Le prove sono state effettuate in un vigneto a doppia cortina mediante variazione della velocità di avanzamento e della frequenza dello scuotitore. Sulla pianta sono stati montati accelerometri per misurare le accelerazioni durante la raccolta. I risultati mostrano che un aumento della velocità di avanzamento (da 0,69 a 0,83 m/s) non determina un peggioramento della raccolta. Una frequenza di scuotimento inferiore determina un aumento significativo della quantità di grappoli intatti senza diminuire la quantità di prodotto raccolto. Un numero inferiore di impulsi inferti dallo scuotitore per metro di cortina determina una diminuzione significativa di perdita di foglie. Il picco di accelerazione non sembra correlato con il prodotto raccolto. L'aumento della velocità misurato sul tralcio, in relazione all'energia trasmessa alle uve, è correlato positivamente con il prodotto raccolto, ma l'incremento è irrilevante nella condizione operativa esaminata, mentre comporta una perdita sostanziale di foglie.]
