Protection and characterization of Lazio autochthonous animal germplasm at risk of genetic erosion

Английский. A Regione Lazio act protects animal and vegetal germplasm, original from Lazio or introduced in the region at least for the past fifty years, involved in genetic erosion processes. The Regional Voluntary Register (RVR) and the Conservation and Safety Network (CSN) are the instruments for the act application. The RVR is an official repertory where autochthonous genetic resources of agricultural interest at risk of genetic erosion are registered. The registration is subjected to the opinion of two scientific commissions, one for the plant sector and one for the animal sector. Single or associated farmers, research institutions and every owner of animal breeds registered in RVR may become a member of the Conservation and Safety Network. The main aims of CSN are in-situ and ex-situ germplasm conservation and the economic and cultural promotion of genetic resources protected by law. Actually, 22 different breeds and populations at risk of genetic erosion have been registered as resources of the Register, among which three fish kinds. La Regione Lazio tutela con un'apposta legge il germoplasma animale e vegetale, autoctono o introdotto nella regione da almeno cinquant'anni, d'interesse agrario e a rischio di erosione genetica. La tutela viene attuata attraverso il Registro Volontario Regionale (RVR) e la Rete di Conservazione e Sicurezza (RCS). Nel Registro sono iscritte, previo parere di due commissioni tecnico-scientifiche, una per il settore animale e una per il settore vegetale, le risorse genetiche autoctone a rischio. Coloro che conservano o allevano risorse genetiche tutelate iscritte al RVR possono entrare a far parte della RCS. Il principale scopo della Rete è quello di favorire la conservazione delle risorse genetiche tutelate e di promuovere la loro valorizzazione. Attualmente, per il settore animale, risultano iscritte al registro 22 razze e popolazioni a rischio di erosione genetica, fra cui tre tipi di pesce. Ultimamente sono state censite e iscritte al Registro due popolazioni caprine autoctone, la Capra Grigia Ciociara e la Capra Bianca Monticellana, che vengono descritte
