The paper presents results of field studies on the effect of varying ways of soil conservation which was lied fallow on its chemical properties. Three methods of soil conservation with fallow method were used: 1 - fallow without sowing, overgrowing with weeds and self-seedlings, 2 - fallow without using Roundup, 3 - fallow seeded with mixture red clover and perennial ryegrass. Soil samples were collected in the spring and at the end of vegetation in every year of fallowing from three layers: 0-10, 10-20, 20-30 cm. Short term lying fallow affected significant changes in content of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium in soil. After three years of using green fallow, content of organic carbon and total nitrogen and potassium increased but content of phosphorus decreased in comparison with others methods
