The effect of weed treatment on grain yield of three maize hybrids on light sandy soil

The field experiment was conducted at the Experimental Station Pawlowice in 2004-06. The first factor were three treatments of weed control: control, mechanical and chemical. The second factor were maize hybrids: Wilga (FAO 190), Blask (FAO 250), Iman (FAO 290). Grain yield was depending on weather conditions. Dry and hot weather conditions in 2006 contribute to significant decreasing of grain yield about 41 percent in 2004 and about 71 percent in 2005. Weed treatment had influence on plant number per square meter and number cobs per plant - in control it was significantly lower (0.3) than in mechanical (0.7) and chemical (0.9) weeds treatment.
