The aim of this work was to study the effect of different fertilizers and chemical composition on raw pumpkins. Pumpkins were grown at the organic pomological garden of the Lithuanian Agricultural University, district of Kaunas in 2002-03. The material consisted of eight pumpkin cultivars: three of Cucurbita maxima: Stofuntovaja, Bambino, Melonowa Zolta, and five of Cucurbita pepo: Miranda, Golosemiannaja, Kroska, Zimniaja Sladkaja, Zemciuznaja. Pumpkins were grown using different fertilizers: organic-humatic Humistar - 30 l/ha, mineral fertilizers Kemira Cropcare (10-10-20) - 500 kg/ha, compost (mixture of manure 70 percent and plant waste 30 percent) - 30 t/ha, and mineral fertilizers Kemira (10-10-20) - 500 kg/ha + humatic 30 l/ha. In a number of cases the quantitative indices of chemical composition were affected by fertilizers. Pumpkin Zimniaja Sladkaja accumulated a greater content of dry matter and vitamin C when they were fertilized using a mixture of Kemira and humatic fertilizers. The greatest content of dietary fiber depending of the use of fertilizers was formal in the pumpkins of Golosemiannaja. The highest content of total sugars was established in pumpkin of cv. Stofuntovaja, and saccharose of Golosemiannaja when they were fertilized with mineral Kemira fertilizers
