The effect of cathode fraction of electromechanically activated solutions of mineral salts – catholyte ECHAS on the non-specific resistance of organism following intensive antibiotic therapy (the tetracycline group) in calves with colibacteriosis was studied. As is shown, the abolition of antibiotics by replacing them for catholyte ECHAS at the dose of 300 mg/head twice a week had a more considerable influence on the physiological state of calves than feeding the catholyte ECHAS in combination with antibiotics. This was expressed in the activated phagocytic function of neutrophils of the mononuclear phagocytic system cells, produced complement, desensibilized effect of catholyte ECHAS and stabilized indices of the alkaline reserve. Moreover, the catholyte increased the pH of the rumen content improving the absorption of volatile fatty acids. The therapeutic effect was observed already after the 2 and 3 feedings, that is, at days 7-10 after the experiment was started: the calves" appetite and mobility improved, the response to outer irritants enhanced; a month after the average gain of body weight was 414 g. It is concluded that the use of catholyte ECHAS is effective at the dose of 300 ml/head twice a week for acute digestive disorders in 10-30-day-old calves.
