The full-value feeding as the main factor of agricultural animal production is presented. The zootechnical, biological and economic evaluation of the diet for calves is given. A particular attention is paid to the energetic value of diet, as well as to the influence of the exchange feed energy concentration on digestibility and use of nutrients and energy in calves, their meat productivity and meat quality. The survey of literature on diet structure optimization, the role of concentrates in feeding process and the possibility of concentrates substitution by some other types of feeds is given. The investigations results on influence of energy concentration in diet on meat productivity, meat quality, inner fat chemical content of fattening calves are given. The weight and body measurements, morphological and biochemical blood indices, daily allowance protein and energy converse into products was also studied. The economical effectiveness of calves fattening using different level concentrations in diet was presented. The optimization of energy value of diets for calves under raising on feedlots was studied in particular. It is intended for specialists, scientific workers and students of the agricultural institutions.
