Specific features of the liver pathomorphology (LP) were studied in the cattle of different age for different forms of chlamydiosis. Samples from pathomorphological liver from 362 animals were studied. They involved 99 aborted feta and newborn calves died on the first days and weeks of life, as well as 263 cows and bulls (2-7 year-old) with genital chlamydiosis. The samples of liver pathomorphology (LP) were investigated by histological, histochemical and electronic microscopic methods. The heaviest dystrophic necrotic changes of LP were observed in aborted feta and neonatal calves died of prenatal chlamydiosis on the first days of life. During the study of semifine sections stained with methylene blue and ultrastructural analysis colonies of Chlamydiae were observed in the periphery of necrotic focuses in the cytoplasm of stellar reticuloendotheliocytes and hepatocytes. In 7-10-day-old animals chlamydiosis manifested with the affection of gastro-intestinal tract, in 20-45-day old – respiratory organs and joints on the background moderately expressed micronecroses in LP. In 2-4-month-old calves adipose degeneration of hepatocytes and proliferation of the Kupffer cells were observed in LP. In the animals older than 6-8 months dystrophic changes in LP were weaker. Almost every second 17-19 month-old calf had accretion of fibrin on the liver capsule. Chronic hepatitis under bovine chlamydiosis was characterized by small focal intralobular hepatocytes necrosis; vacuole, adipose and carbohydrate degeneration; lymphoid histocytic infiltration of portal tract, proliferation of stellar reticuloendotheliocytes. According to the results of pathomorphological LP investigation it is recommended to study semifine sections and impression smears stained with toluidine blue and by Romanovsky-Giemsa to detect the causing agent.
