Accumulation of organic carbon in young soils during primary succession in exhausted quarries in the northern taiga of Western Siberia

Te factors influencing on accumulation and profile distribution of organic carbon in young soils of technogenic landscapes during primary succession in northern taiga of Western Siberia are considered. It is shown that the stock of organic carbon in young soils is influenced by phytocenosis structure, the total coverage of vegetation and time of revegetation. Rate of organic carbon accumulation in technogenic landscapes of northern taiga is much lower, than in technogenic landscapes of the south part of Western Siberia and Urals, except for a site covered by Calamagroslis community. On quarries covered by forest communities the organic carbon content correlates with a stock of a forest litter. On quarries covered by grass phytocenoses the organic carbon content depends on aboveground mortmass and aboveground living phytomass. Profile distribution of organic carbon in young soils correlates with the physical clay content.
