The aim of this paper was to analyse the effects of N doses on yield of three different wheat varieties in the long-term field experiment at Rimski Sancevi experimental station, Novi Sad (Serbia). According to the obtained yield, during the investigated period (1995-2005), all year were divided into poor (average wheat yield more less than 5 t/ha), average years (wheat yield 5-6 t/ha) and good years (average wheat yield over 6 t/ha). In order to explain yield variation we analyzed effects of each year, N doses and wheat varieties and their interaction. The highest yield in all treatment and investigated years was obtained with variety Pobeda compared with Sremica and Lasta. The lowest yield was found after Sremica. The highest doses of nitrogen (180 kg/ha) resulted with higher average wheat yield, however statistically significant differences were not found compared with other N doses. Consequently our study showed that specific year characteristic had strongest influence on the yield of winter wheat. At effect of N doses and interaction year x N doses was not particularly pronounced. In our study different wheat variety had not casuistically influenced wheat yield.
