An experiment was conducted for two seasons (2001-2002) at the Gezira Research Station Farm. Fifteen upland cotton (Gossyipum hirsutum L.) genotypes were tested in this study. These were; Barac (67) B, and Nour, the two commercial cotton varities along with thirteen lines derived from crosses between local genotypes and introduced lines from the Multi-Adversity Resistance (MAR) Program. The experiment was arranged in a randomized complete block design with three replications. Each plot consisted of five rows, 0.8 m apart, 6 m length and 0.5 m within row spacing. The experiment was sown on the 11th and 7th July of 200 and 2002, respectively. The objective was to study the genetic variability and the association of yield with its components. A considerable range of variability was shown in most of the characters studied. Lint yield had a significant positive correlation with number of bolls, plant height and number of sympodial branches. Number of bolls, plant height and ginningout turn were the most important components in determining lint yield
