Darmi - a new cotton variety

The new variety Darmi is obtained by crossing the breeding line № 268 ґ “C-9070” - an Uzbek variety. The line № 268 originates from the cross of the Bulgarian varieties Garant ґ “Progress” - of interspecific origin G. hirsutum L. ґ G. barbadnese L. In terms of productivity Darmi variety is equal to Chirpan variety - standard for earliness and productivity, and in terms of fiber quality it is equal to the variety Avangard-264 - standard for fiber quality. It is characterized by higher first fruit-branch that is of great importance for the mechanical picking. In this variety better combination of length and lint percentage of fiber is achieved than in Avangard-264, its lint percentage (39.1%) being by 2.5% higher. In the state variety test it showed higher productivity than the variety Avangard-264 and exceeded it in total yield of seed cotton by 6.8 %, and in yield of fiber - by 7.4 %.
