The influence of ahemeral lighting programmes on the laying and egg quality of layers
2008
Kabakchiev, M., Thracian University, Stara Zagora (Bulgaria)
Three groups of layers were kept at different durations of the day-and-night period, respectively 24, 26 and 28 hours. The duration of the day was equal for all the groups – 16 h. The egg production, egg mass shell thickness, shell weight, indexes of albumen and yolk and Haugh units were controlled. It was determined that the egg laying rate decreased at day-and-night periods longer than 24 h, but the egg mass and shell thickness were significantly increased. Significant differences between the groups were not found in terms of the albumen and yolk indexes and Haugh units.
