The goal of the present study was to analyse the influence of the genetic /line, father, mother/, biological /type of birth/ and environmental /year/ components on the live weight at different ages of Thracian merino sheep. The study was carried out in the experimental base of the Agricultural Institute in Stara Zagora. The 722 sheep from the Thracian merino breed herd which were born in the period 1995-2005 were included. The productive indices were analyzed: live weight at birth, at weaning, at 9 months of age, at 18 months of age, at 2.5 years of age and at 3.5 years of age. The effect of the line, father, and mother, type of birth and year birth on the live weight was assayed. We used mixed linear model to describe the influence of the studied factors. The major part on the variance at the different ages was described by the factor year of birth (P 0, 001). The genetic variance due to the effect of mother was close to significant (Р 0.05) in the early ages. The effect of the father reflected a small part of the genetic variance until 18-month age (Р 0. 05).
