This study aimed to compare the two-line buildings for free stall rearing of the cows with a closed breeding cycle on their technical and economical characteristics: relative built-up area, the volume and the input of basic building materials (concrete and steel) for the construction of the technological profile of the floor. Four technological variants of the buildings were compared – for 40, 60, 80 and 100 cows together with the female replacements aged from 3 to 27 months and the male calves from 3 to 6 months. It was found that the variant with 100 cows was economically more effective in comparison to the other variants for all the studied characteristics of the buildings. It was also most economical for its characteristics for the different cattle categories: lactating cows, calves from 3 to 12 months and dry cows for the relative expenses for concrete and steel. The variant with 60 cows was the most effective for the heifers, calves aged from 12 to 18 months and dry cows – on relative built-up area and volume. It was found that the capacity of the buildings did not considerably affect the share of the different cattle categories in the total built-up area and on the amount of the material for the technological profile of the floor. With its increase they did not change or vary with 1-5%.
