The experiment was conducted to determine the effects of out-of-season melatonin treatment on mature Ile de France ewes (n=250). The ewes received melatonin implants June 1st and after 30 days rams with aprons were introduced into the flock to induce a ram effect and to identify the ewes in oestrus. The ewes were inseminated cervically with fresh semen. The dynamics of oestrus onset, lambing period, conception rate at the 1st (71%), 2nd (78%) and 3rd service (44%), total number of AI services (339), number of AI per pregnancy (1.39), fertility (97.2%), fecundity (146.4%) and litter size (150.6) were calculated. It can be concluded that melatonin could be a useful tool for improvement of the lamb production.
