The experiments on the toxic effects from feeding F. moniliforme mold culture with the starter feed to turkey poults were carried out for 21 days. One control and two experimental groups were formed, the latter receiving either 100 ppm - experimental group I or 150 ppm experimental group II fumonisins/kg feed. It was observed that the intoxication was accompanied by a lower live weight gain, higher absolute weight of the proventriculus, gizzard and pancreas, higher enzymatic activities of the blood ASAT, ALAT, AP, LDH and GGT, and higher serum cholesterol in both experimental groups. The results showed that - the birds from the 2nd experimental group exhibited atrophy of the thymic core - in the 1st experimental group were observed oedema and haemorrhages in the intermuscular connective tissue, necrosis, vacuolization and karyolysis of cardiac muscle cells - in the 2nd experimental group interstitial oedema, multifocal loss of the striated pattern and necrosis of cardiac muscle fibers - in both experimental groups were observed multifocal to general necrosis in the liver and hyperplasia of the epithelium of biliferous ducts.
