With the use of methods of experiment planning, we present. Research results on the influence of methanol on the basic efficiency and environment-friendliness indicators of diesel engine are presented. Achieving maximal efficiency of diesel fuel by replacing it with methanol and getting the highest efficiency of diesel require diesel work at frequency of crankshaft rotation near to nominal, and methanol content in the whole amount of fuel should not exceed 30-35%
