[The level and tendencies of the development of potato growing branch in the Mogilev region]

The analysis of the potato growing branch in modern condition is given in this article. The influence of an area under crops on the change of economic efficiency of potato growing is shown. In the region the tendency of reduction of areas under potatoes both in personal part-time farms and in the agriculture organizations is observed. All the agricultural organizations of the Mogilev region is divided into four groups depending on an area under potatoes. The specialized potato growing organizations with the area under potatoes of more than 100 hectares achieve the best production efficiency. As the result of research there has been drawn a conclusion that there is a problem of finding of the theoretical substantivation of industrial potential optimum size and the efficiency of its using now
