Evaluación de materiales orgánicos para la biofumigación en instalaciones de cultivos protegidos para el manejo de Meloidogyne incognita

El trabajo se desarrolló en los aisladores biológicos del CENSA, para determinar la efectividad de la biofumigación con follaje de Nim (Azaradichta indica), Tagetes (Tagetes erecta) y residuos de la industria azucarera (Cachaza) en la disminución de las poblaciones de Meloidogyne incognita en el suelo, seleccionando el mejor biofumigante para el control de esta plaga, así como el aporte de materia orgánica y la estimulación de las poblaciones de nematodos saprobióticos de cada uno. Se establecieron tres tratamientos y un testigo, con cinco réplicas cada uno, en los que se empleó un diseño completamente aleatorio. Se inoculó M. incognita a una dosis de 165 huevos-larvas/1500 cm3 de suelo. Para la biofumigación se aplicó 4 kg de cada material/m2 de suelo, añadiendo agua y tapándolo con una película de polietileno transparente durante 21 días antes del transplante del tomate (Lycopersicom sculentum Mill.) var. N-A. A los 60 días de transplantado se determinó el índice de agallamiento, ootecas/cm de raíz, cantidad de J2 en suelo y raíz, factor de reproducción, total de nematodos saprobióticos en 10 g de suelo, peso fresco y seco del tallo, peso de la raíz y porcentaje de materia orgánica en el suelo al inicio y final del experimento. Se demostró que la biofumigación con el follaje de ambas plantas y la cachaza resultaron efectivas para disminuir las poblaciones de M. incognita, reduciendo el índice de agallamiento en uno o más grados con respecto al testigo y mostrando una tasa de reproducción por debajo de uno. El folleje de Nim actuó como mejor biofumigante del suelo, aunque la cachaza y tagetes mostraron efecto supresor sobre M. incognita.

The experiment was carried out at CENSA´s biological facilities with the aim of evaluating the effectiveness of biofumigation with leaves and branches of neem (Azaradichta indica) and marigold (Tagetes erecta) and residues of the sugar industry (sugar cane filter mud), to reduce Meloidogyne incognita population in soil and to select the best material for the control of this nematode. Also, for determining which one contributes to the most organic matter and enhances saprophytic nematode population in soil. Three treatments and a control were established. 165 eggs-larvae of M. incognita / 1500g of soil were used as initial soil inoculum. 4 kg of material/m2 were applied for biofumigating the soil 21 days prior transplantation of tomato var. N-A. At 60 days after the soil biofumagation and tomato transplantation, the following parameters: root galling index, number of egg masses by cm of root, number of J2 in 10g of root and soil, total saprobiotic nematodes present, fresh and dry weight of the plant, weight roots and the percentage of organic matter in the soil was evaluated at the beginning and at the end of the experiment. It was demonstrated that biofumigation with neem, marigold and sugar cane filter mud was effective to diminish M. incognita populations in the soil, reducing the galling index in one or more degrees with regard to the control and showing a reproduction rate below 1. Leaves and branches of neem showed the best biofumigant effect, though sugar cane filter mud and marigold showed a depressive effect against M. incognita.
