Two pastures with Lolio-Cynosurenion vegetation located at different altitudes and grazed in rotation by a herd of 95-122 dairy cows from May to October were divided into one-hectar representative areas to evaluate seasonal changes in daily milk yield, pasture chemical composition and herbage allowance. The milk yield decreased gradually during the pasture season. A significant decrease in N concentration and increase in acid detergent fibre in the forage was noticed between June and subsequent summer months. It is recommended to supplement the goats with additional fodder with high N conc. and low fibre conc. during the critical summer months in order to increase their milk yield.
