Role of the agricultural extension in improving the agricultural processes of grapes crop in El-Nubaria zone

The study aimed at identify the farmers' knowledge, and their practices of technical recommendations regarding the improvement of Agricultural Processes of Grapes (APG) at EL-Nubaria zone. Also to identify of the sources the farmers' knowledge, determine the relationship between the farmers' knowledge, practices degree regarding (APG) and each personal, social and economical ariables, under study define the contribution ratio of the personal, social, and economical variables correlated significantly with respondents' knowledge and practices degree regarding (APG) in explaining the total variance this knowledge, practices, and identify the most important problems facing grapes farmers in the field of improving the agricultural processes and their suggestions to solve these problems. The study took place in EL-Bostan district of EL-Nubaria zone where four villages were selected. A ran dom sample consisted of 124 farmers was selected representing 50.4 % of total farmers in the chosen villages whose number amounts to 246 farmers. Data were collected by personally interviewing with respondents using a pre-tested questionnaire. Pearson's product moment, step wise, percentages and means were used to analyze data statistically. The main results of the study revealed that farmers' knowledge, practices degree regarding most (APG) were relatively high. Sources of farmers' information about (APG) were numerous. Farmers' knowledge degree regarding (APG) was significantly and positively correlated at 0.01 level with each of the mean yield per feddan, the degree of farmers' attitude towards innovations and the degree of service content and at 0.01 level with the educational years' number. All these variables contributed 40.8% in explaining the total variance in farmers' knowledge the rate of these variables' contribution was 29.3%, 6.0% and 5.5% consequently. F armers' practices degree regarding (APG) was significantly and positively correlated at 0.01 level with each of the mean yield per feddan, the degree of farmers' attitude towards innovations and the degree of serves content. These three variables contributed with 25. 7% in explaining the total variance in farmers' practices, the rate of these variables' contribution were 17. 6%, 4.5% and 3.6% consequently.
