Bose, B. | Mishra, T., Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi (India). Dept. of Plant Physiology
The present study pertains to the effects of pre-sowing soaking tre.atment to the seeds of two Brassicajuncea L. varieties Vaibhav and Kranti with Mg (N03)2 and Mg S04 in varying concentrations (ie 5.0 to 10mM). The seeds of mustard varieties were sown after 24 h treatment either with Mg (N°3)2 or with MgSO 4. The plant height, leaf number, amino acid and chlorophyll contents of shoot (stem + leaves) and leaves, respectively, of 45 days old plants were found to be improved with the application ofsalts of magnesium. However, nitrate salt of magnesium was found more responsive in both the varieties of mustard.
