Surface sterilized seeds of Vigna radiata cv. T 44 were soaked in 0, 10-X, 10-6 and 10-4 M aqueous solution of 28-homobrassinolide (HBR) for 4, 8 and 12 h and planted in earthen pots (25 cm2) having sandy loam soil and farmyard manure in the ratio of9 : I. Plants were sampled at 30,40 and 50 days after sowing (DAS). Soaking seeds with 28-homobrassinolide increased root and shoot length, root and shoot dry mass, but had 'no impact on ethylene production. Moreover, J-lBR treatment also increased pod number and seed yield at the final harvest (70 DAS). The maximum increase in yield was obtained from the seeds soaked in 10-x M of HBR for 8 h.
