Linkage studies in lentil (lens culinaris madik).
2004
Sharma, B., Indain Agricultural Reserach Institute, New Delhi (India). Division of Genetics
The main objectives of the project were to study the induction and isolation of mutants, linkage analysis and inheritance of different morphological markers, viz., brown leaf pigmentation (BI), stem pigmentation (Gs), pod pigmentation (Rdp), plant pubescence (Pub), dark green foliage (Dgl), broad leaf size (Blf), oval leaf shape (Ol), large stipule size (Lst). No. of leaflets/leaf (Hl), pod size (Lpd), purple flower colour (P), flower number/peduncle (Fn), plant height (Ph),erect growth habit (Ert), globe plant type (Glo,) fascinated plant (Fas), long peduncle (Pdl), tendril formation (Tnl), black testa (Blt), seed coat pattern (Mot), brown testa (Brt), orange cotyledon, (Dg-Y-B), yellow cotyledon (Dg-Y-bb), brown cotyledon (Dg-yy-B-), light green cotyledon (Dg-yy-bb) and dark green cotyledon (Dgdg Y-b-dgdg y-bb; dgdg yy B; dgdg yy bb). Four linkage groups involving 16 gene pairs could be established based on linkage analysis of 496 combinations of different markers. New stable mutants for plant morphology and seed characters, viz., dwarf, chlorinia, thiamine deficient, small leaves, narrow leaves, bushy plants globe, compact leaves, high number of leaflets/leaf , broad leaf, black seed coat and pigmented pod have been developed.
